Citrix Systems and Google Cloud continue to help organizations make work more accessible, flexible and secure. They have empowered distributed and hybrid workers to securely access the tools and information they need to engage and be productive.
Understanding the work environment has changed to a more hybrid approach, the London councils of Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames and London Borough of Sutton are leveraging virtual desktops from Citrix to empower employees to perform and deliver for more than 400,000 constituents they serve.
“We believe that work is what you do, not where you go, and the whole strategy behind our infrastructure has been to enable our people to access all of their services from any device, anywhere,” said David Grasty, corporate head of digital strategy and portfolio for the two councils’ digital and IT service.
Grasty and his team, using Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops on Google Cloud, will deliver council and shared service applications to more than 5,000 employees, so they have access to resources to get their work done.
“Most of our processes use line of business apps like case management tools and all of that is delivered using Citrix technology,” said Grasty. “The combination of Citrix and Google has enabled people to work seamlessly from wherever they need to be, without the need for the workarounds that some other councils have had to create.”
The councils have also expanded their talent pool. Using the Citrix technology gave the councils the ability to reach more candidates, giving them a leg up in recruiting talent in a competitive labor market.
“We’re using technology to be more flexible, and one of the key outcomes is that we’re able to reach more candidates and from a wider area, which is important for a public service based in London,” Grasty said. “We have proved that our staff can do a great job, be it at home, in the office or collaborating onsite with one of our partners – and we have the right tech and support to enable them to do it.”
This is just one example of how organizations are leveraging technology to support evolving workforces and ensure workers have access to the resources they need – wherever they happen to be working.
