Wi-Fi 6 Market Grows Simultaneously with Internet Users

By

Think of a world without Wi-Fi. Scary, right? Wi-Fi is etched into all aspects of what we do today. This ranges from being connected at work and driving business productivity to being connected at home and watching a favorite TV show on a streaming service.

With everyone being connected in some way, users – both businesses and consumers – continuously look for faster Wi-Fi solutions. Today, that is Wi-Fi 6. It offers faster speeds than Wi-Fi 5, better safety protocols and an increased number of supported devices on one router, to name a few of Wi-Fi 6 benefits.

The global Wi-Fi 6 market size, valued at $2.66 billion in 2021, is expected to expand at a compound annual growth rate of 12.39% from 2022 to 2028, according to Valuates Reports.

But what is actually driving the market?

Looking back two years, the pandemic forced remote and hybrid work to be the new norm, and the demand for Wi-Fi 6 and its services increased with the increase of internet users. As employees work from home, the home network becomes crowded. This is due to a combination of things such as online gaming devices, connected kitchen appliances and devices with VR capabilities. In businesses, there are also many more connected devices along with bandwidth-intensive applications crowding the network.

With a crowded network, connection becomes spotty, making work experiences less than exceptional and forcing investment into better Wi-Fi solutions.

The number of internet users growing is also a result of greater smartphone adoption and better connectivity. With the new economic opportunity coming from an increase in internet connectivity, the telecom industry invested in enhanced Wi-Fi solutions for the necessary connectivity bandwidth, security and network dependability demanded by consumers.

The demand for Wi-Fi 6 and its services is anticipated to increase concurrently with the increase of smartphone users.

Additionally, Wi-Fi 6 enables various solutions like automated vehicles and industrial robots that are anticipated to fuel the Wi-Fi 6 market. In automated vehicles, Wi-Fi 6 provides less congestion to provide more bandwidth, longer range when an access point is not nearby and lower power through target wake time that lets the vehicle sleep and wake up as needed for Wi-Fi connectivity.

More people and industries continue seek ways to stay connected with as little downtime as possible. Wi-Fi 6 provides that, and the market will thrive because of it.
