XR Video Conferencing Gains Momentum from ALE and CORTEX2

By

Accelerated innovative collaboration tools is one result from the pandemic when discussing work environments. Initially starting with basic video conferencing, businesses found ways to make conference meetings more engaging and memorable.

Take a look at XR technology. Within collaboration platforms, XR technology creates a sense of presence and enables a more enhanced and more dynamic visualization of information and objects, as well as interaction with these objects in 3D. This ultimately creates that sense of being a part of something big for each attendee.

Building on the foundation of what XR technology already brings today, provider of network, communications and cloud solutions Alcatel Lucent Enterprise is a participant in the CORTEX2 consortium.

The main purpose for XLE’s inclusion is to extend video conferencing to more than just screen-to-screen interactions and enable the integration of XR-based tools into business communications for seamless remote communication collaboration.

CORTEX2 is an initiative funded by the European Commission through the Horizon Europe research and innovation program. The consortium is composed of 10 organizations across seven countries that work together for 36 months.

ALE is supporting CORTEX2 on its mission to democratize access to remote collaboration offered by next-generation XR experiences across a wide range of industries and SMEs. To support CORTEX2, the CORTEX2 platform is operated from the ALE cloud. Additionally, Rainbow by ALE is used as a backbone for the XR-based tele-cooperation concept to ensure large scale adoption and rapid scaling.

The Rainbow cloud-based CPaaS is vital to the project because supports fully interactive XR-based cooperation. For Rainbow, there are three planned pilots to be showcased. They are industrial production, business meetings and remote training.

“With CORTEX2, we will bring XR capabilities into Rainbow’s collaborative space through the use of VR, AR and AI,” said Sylvain Rivier, CORTEX2 coordinator for ALE.

Through the partnership, support is gained for the Horizon Europe research and innovation program in developing XR-based tools for effective business telecommunication.
