Metaverse, a term first used by author Neal Stephenson, is the next generation of engagement. It brings together the physical and digital worlds. Just think of “Ready Player One” where the protagonist, Wade Watts, gets “away” from his miserable life in his aunt’s trailer and lives the life that he wants in a VR world.
The metaverse gained its traction when Mark Zuckerberg (News - Alert) announced Meta, which believes the metaverse is the future of connection. In fact, by 2026, Gartner predicts one-fourth of the world’s population will spend at least an hour each day in the metaverse. On the financial side of things, McKinsey predicts the metaverse market value to reach $5 trillion by 2030.
What does the metaverse mean for businesses though? To simply put it, the metaverse breaks geographical boundaries. The metaverse integrates VR, AR, gaming and social media where employees interact and engage. VR is used for training purposes, giving employees the lifelike experience of a real job situation. Company social outings are also hosted on the metaverse where an employee in Oregon now has the ability to interact and engage with other employees from New England, Arizona or Illinois.
As most can see, the metaverse affects a range of industries as diverse as healthcare, fashion and entertainment, but the main goal remains the same – to deliver a more immersive experience.
And why not learn more about what the immersive experience that comes with metaverse means for enterprises at the 2023 Enterprise Metaverse Expo, part of ITEXPO in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Through case studies, keynotes and panel discussions, presenters at Enterprise Metaverse Expo help attendees develop real strategies and implementation plans for their metaverse initiatives.
See who the current players are and gain a better insight on the key factors and trends to watch for in 2023 during the session, “The Metaverse: It is Real and it is Not Just for Games,” on Feb. 14, and learn strategies and tactics for business adoption of the Metaverse during “A Business Metaverse Adoption Roadmap” on Feb. 15.
The Enterprise Metaverse Expo is set to feature dedicated content on how the metaverse is disrupting the enterprise market and helping create new global opportunities.
