Campfire App Bridges Flat Screens and Next-Gen Headsets for 3D Collaboration

By

Enterprise XR, the application of immersive technologies such as VR, AR and mixed reality in business environments, is facing hurdles that impede its scalability. The reason being? Data indicates it's the fragmented nature of Enterprise XR solutions and usability issues, resulting in limited usability and utility for organizations.

One challenge is the fragmentation of the ecosystem. Point solutions dominate the landscape, lacking interoperability and seamless integration with existing enterprise systems. This fragmentation prevents the establishment of standardized platforms and creates compatibility issues, making it hard for organizations to adopt XR technologies at scale.

Usability concerns further exacerbate the problem. Many XR applications have struggled to provide user-friendly interfaces, requiring specialized training or technical expertise to operate effectively. This lack of user-friendliness hampers collaboration efforts, as employees struggle to navigate and utilize these tools efficiently.

However, innovators are actively addressing these challenges. Efforts are underway to standardize protocols, improve usability and develop comprehensive and scalable solutions. After receiving feedback from innovators in industries including aerospace, automotive, medical devices, retail and apparel, Campfire announced the availability of its holographic collaboration system comprising a new multi-platform app for PC, Mac and iPad and a specialized XR headset for PC.

The Campfire app seamlessly combines the simplicity of modern 2D collaboration with the immersive power of 3D. With Campfire, users can easily organize a wide variety of 3D models, comprising over 40 types, into dynamic scenes that can be shared as simple links. By opening these links, collaborators can join in using powerful tools specifically designed to explain and comprehend complex concepts within the 3D environment.

The Campfire App is compatible with PC, Mac and iPad, ensuring accessibility across different devices. While offering a freemium model, Campfire also provides enterprise plans starting at $1,500 per user per year.

To pair with the app is the Campfire Headset. The headset leverages the power of the iPhone as a controller when combined with the Campfire Pack, delivering a seamless and intuitive user experience. For reliable shared holograms in offices, meeting rooms and collaboration spaces, users utilize the Campfire Console or Studio Console. Additionally, the headset is certified to seamlessly integrate with Dell Precision Workstations via Thunderbolt-3, ensuring hassle-free plug-and-play functionality.

The Campfire Headset is exclusively available in the Campsite Starter Kit, offering a comprehensive and groundbreaking solution for advanced AR meetings. The Campsite Starter Kit is the fastest way to get started with holographic collaboration. It includes two Campfire Headsets, packs, consoles, five enterprise user licenses and one Studio Console. It is available in the U.S., U.K. and EU and is priced at $15,000 per year.

“We designed Campfire to solve a basic human challenge that XR technology uniquely solves - the difficulty of communicating 3D information. We've made it easier than ever and are proud to bring it to market," said Jay Wright, CEO and co-founder, Campfire.
