'Chat with your Data' through Mixpanel's Generative AI

By

“Through simple and powerful analytics that help everyone make better decisions, real progress becomes possible.”

This is more than just an at-face-value statement from analytics company Mixpanel; it’s a core mantra. It’s 2023, and organizations’ teams should be able to see every moment of their customers’ experiences clearly to action strong decisions that improve workflows. So, Mixpanel enables free data exploration (and without SQL), as well as interactive event analysis and dataset validation, plus the abilities to uncover real-time customer trends and to more accurately measure growth and retention for the long haul.

And speaking of “It’s 2023,” Mixpanel officially integrated one of this year’s hottest future-of-work topics:

Generative AI.

By integrating generative AI, Mixpanel is making it possible for companies to basically, quote, “chat with their data.” As of this Mixpanel announcement, users can chat with Mixpanel’s AI interface to better understand customers’ journeys. Via a conversational route (i.e. prompting the AI with general queries and answerable requests), users can better understand the impacts of their product and marketing decisions, the accuracy of generated reports, etc.

Here's an example: A non-technical marketing employee at a ride-hailing firm can ask Mixpanel’s AI “Which group of our users most frequently convert when we apply surge pricing across key markets?" This marketer will quickly receive a batch of helpful data, allowing them to understand trends relating to advertising spend. This data could even be passed on to the appropriate salesperson, who could then assess notable changes in company revenue over time. This is all executed in mere seconds through Mixpanel, and the original employee now has AI-analyzed data that can point them to conversion trends across different markets.

Simple.

“Generative AI is the next interface to computing, and it's unlocking huge productivity gains,” said Amir Movafaghi, Mixpanel’s CEO. “In our world, this means it's much easier for anyone to query their data in plain English by asking the AI a question. This is what makes analytics more accessible – anyone everyone can participate – thus significantly improving decision-making capabilities across companies."

This new Mixpanel generative AI interface is currently being used by a select group of customers as part of a closed beta program. It will be made officially available over the coming weeks as an optional interface for all Mixpanel users, and at no additional cost.
