WiMi Advances Communication with Real-Time 3D Holographic System

By

Let’s talk about WiMi Hologram.

WIMI, a prominent player in China's holographic cloud industry, specializes in delivering comprehensive technical solutions within the holographic cloud realm. Its primary focus areas encompass holographic AR automotive HUD software, 3D holographic pulse LiDAR, head-mounted light field holographic equipment, holographic semiconductor technology, holographic cloud software, and holographic car navigation solutions.

WiMi's services and expertise also span a wide spectrum of other holographic AR technologies, including vision semiconductor advancements, software development and AR advertising, and more.

With that expertise, WIMI has achieved breakthroughs and rapid advancement in the application of holographic technology across diverse sectors such as advertising, entertainment, education and 5G communication. They are dedicated to constructing a robust and open service platform that bridges the gap between holographic technology applications and holographic computer vision presentations.

"Dedicated” is an understatement, though; especially with the company’s recent development.

WiMi has developed a real-time 3D holographic communication system. This system integrates capture, hologram generation, transmission and display, promising to revolutionize the way people communicate by delivering a lifelike and immersive visual experience.

First, let’s dive into the specifics of this system.

At its core, this real-time 3D holographic communication system comprises three fundamental technologies: holographic imaging, holographic coding and holographic projection.

Holographic imaging harnesses the principles of light interference and diffraction to generate three-dimensional images by recording and reproducing the light field information of an object. It preserves the object's 3D information within the interference pattern of light waves, enabling observers to view it from various angles and distances, resulting in a lifelike 3D effect. This technology forms the bedrock of the 3D holographic communication system.

Holographic coding is the process of transforming information into holographic images, and common coding methods include amplitude coding and phase coding. Holographic projection is the process of projecting the coded holographic images into space, which can realize the display and transmission of 3D images using transparent media and laser light sources.

Another pivotal component is 3D data transmission, a crucial technology for the system's functionality. This process involves transmitting 3D images or videos from the sender to the receiver, necessitating considerations like data compression, transmission rate and stability.

And, in the context of the real-time 3D holographic communication system, algorithm implementation is the linchpin that enables its full potential. Firstly, a 3D image capture and processing algorithm is key. This algorithm entails processing and analyzing data obtained from the 3D image sensor. Deep learning algorithms, such as convolutional neural networks, can be employed for feature extraction and classification. Additionally, image processing algorithms, like edge detection and image segmentation, are used to preprocess and enhance 3D images.

The encoding and decoding of 3D images are also integral to the system. In this process, the 3D image is converted into a hologram for transmission. Discrete Fourier transform or fast Fourier transform can be employed to transform the 3D image into frequency domain data during encoding. The inverse Fourier transform is then used in decoding to convert the frequency domain data back into holograms.

Algorithms for hologram display and reconstruction are also essential. At the receiving end, the received hologram must be processed and displayed, involving hologram reconstruction and image display using digital or optical holography and technologies like liquid crystal displays or laser projection.

So, what exactly does this mean for the business world?

WiMi's introduction of a real-time 3D holographic communication system carries significant implications for businesses, presenting a shift in how they operate and engage with stakeholders. The technology augments remote collaboration, permitting organizations to conduct virtual meetings and conferences that closely mimic in-person interactions. This fosters more efficient decision-making processes and heightened productivity as geographically dispersed teams collaborate seamlessly.

The system also opens the gate for immersive product demonstrations and presentations. Businesses can showcase their offerings in a 3D, interactive format, providing potential clients and partners with an unparalleled understanding of product features and benefits. This capability holds the potential to bolster conversion rates and drive sales to new heights.

The technology can also help with training and education, with employees benefiting from lifelike holographic simulations in fields such as healthcare and manufacturing, enhancing skills and reducing the likelihood of errors.

WiMi's development of the real-time 3D holographic communication system is poised to have a transformative impact on communication technology. It certainly has the potential to enable long-distance transmission and display of authentic 3D images, holding promise for further developments in entertainment, medicine, education and various other fields.
