Data Meets Edge AI through Lenovo's Vision for Next-Generation Intelligence

By

The world is generating more data than ever before – 328.77 million terabytes of data are created each day, according to Statista. This data has the potential to transform businesses and society with artificial intelligence. However, AI deployment is not without its challenges, such as high latency, low bandwidth, security risks and privacy concerns.

To overcome these obstacles, edge computing is emerging as a key solution that brings data processing closer to the source, reducing the need for data transmission and storage in the cloud. Edge computing enables faster, more efficient and more secure AI applications that enhance various domains, such as emergency response, public safety, accessibility, tourism and retail.

So, global technology company Lenovo has announced new edge AI solutions and services that aim to simplify AI deployment and accelerate intelligent transformation for businesses of any size. The new offerings include Lenovo TruScale for Edge and AI, a pay-as-you-go model that provides immediate access to edge AI deployment and a one-stop connection to Lenovo’s 150-plus turnkey AI solutions, and Lenovo ThinkEdge SE455 V3, a powerful edge server that supports demanding edge AI and telco workloads2.

Lenovo TruScale for Edge and AI is a scalable, infrastructure-as-a-service model that enables customers to leverage the advantages of the latest Lenovo ThinkEdge hardware and services without upfront capital investments. Lenovo’s metering technology optimizes costs around infrastructure at the edge, allowing customers to only pay for what they use.

Lenovo also offers no-touch deployment, management, and hardware refresh fully managed by Lenovo, which reduces complexity and lowers costs.

Lenovo ThinkEdge SE455 V3 is Lenovo’s new flagship edge-optimized server, featuring AMD EPYC 8004 Series Processors that deliver best-in-class performance and built-in sustainability. The server is ideal for large and demanding edge AI and telco workloads, such as generative AI, computer vision and virtual assistants. It also supports modern HCI/hybrid cloud deployments and offers smart connectivity, security, and manageability features.

Lenovo is also working with partners to enable edge AI deployment at scale, providing customized, validated and ready-to-deploy AI solutions. New solutions with partners such as AMD, Intel, NVIDIA and Qualcomm Technologies with Qualcomm Cloud AI 100 AI inference accelerator, help to enhance operations and decision-making with computer vision, audio recognition, prediction, security and virtual assistants for various industries.

For example, in manufacturing, Lenovo’s edge AI solutions can help identify workplace hazards such as accidents, defective machinery and fires. In hospitality, Lenovo’s advanced edge AI computing can process thousands of data points to monitor and interact with public crowds, enabling better guest services, security, and business intelligence in real time.

“Lenovo is committed to being the most trusted partner and empowering our customers’ intelligent transformation by simplifying AI deployment,” said Kirk Skaugen, President of Lenovo Infrastructure Solutions Group. “With today’s news, Lenovo continues to push the boundaries of what is possible at the edge, making it easier than ever before to deploy critical edge computing that efficiently delivers transformative AI-powered insights for any business, anywhere.”

Lenovo has a comprehensive edge portfolio of hardware, services and solutions that bring AI to the edge, where data resides and helps businesses everywhere leverage their data for AI-powered insights that drive transformation.
