Lacework's AI Dynamo: Transforming Cloud Security with Innovative Assistance

By

AI continues to advance at a swift pace. With it, the effectiveness of generative AI tools is intimately linked to the nature and quality of the data they analyze. The foundational premise here is that the performance of these AI tools, which generate content autonomously, is directly influenced by the richness, diversity and accuracy of the datasets they are trained on.

The connection between AI efficacy and data quality emphasizes the necessity for sophisticated architectures capable of handling the volumes of data generated today. With the proliferation of information in terms of both quantity and complexity, AI tools must operate within frameworks that facilitate rapid processing and analysis.

One standout in this domain is Lacework, designed to navigate the intricate challenges posed by the immense volume, velocity and variety of cloud data. With a distinctive architecture, Lacework is adept at detecting known and unknown threats in cloud computing.

Building on securing the cloud, Lacework announced a generative AI assistant that gives enterprise customers a new way to engage with the Lacework platform by providing customized context to investigate and remediate proactive and reactive alerts.

Lacework AI Assist caters to analysts based on their level of expertise, aiding them in navigating security challenges within intricate cloud environments effortlessly. This solution not only reduces the time invested by security teams in investigating potential threats but also significantly boosts the efficiency of cloud SOCs by delivering personalized guidance for issue resolution.

Through the utilization of generative AI, Lacework's assistive experience simplifies the comprehension and handling of compliance alerts. This promotes a proactive approach to risk management within teams.

The Lacework assistive experience provides customers with the capability to ask questions such as:

  • Why should I look at this alert?
  • What Lacework tools can I use to further investigate this?
  • How do I fix this misconfiguration using the AWS CLI?
  • Does this violation affect my SOC2 compliance?

These capabilities empower SOC professionals and security experts to establish credibility with developers by guiding them through the establishment of technical context.

Additionally, Lacework now leverages the generative AI model services from Amazon Bedrock. Amazon Bedrock is a fully managed service from AWS that makes foundational models from AI companies available via API.

This builds on the technical collaboration between Lacework and AWS and allows Lacework to experiment with different models to create the best customer experiences.

"Generative AI was a natural progression for us to build on the deep machine learning capabilities that are at the core of the Lacework platform's anomaly detection," said Adam Leftik, Vice President, Product, Lacework. "Our customers can use Lacework to secure themselves against potential generative AI threats, as well as use generative AI assistance to better understand the risks and threats in their cloud environments. Utilizing Amazon Bedrock to do just that is a technical win."

Be part of the discussion about the latest trends and developments in the Generative AI space at Generative AI Expo, taking place February 13-15, 2024, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Generative AI Expo discusses the evolution of GenAI and feature conversations focused on the potential for GenAI across industries and how the technology is already being used to create new opportunities for businesses to improve operations, enhance customer experiences, and create new growth opportunities.
