JFrog Doubles Down on DevOps with Acquisition of Qwak AI

By

A smooth experience over the entire supply chain is no longer a luxury; it's the octane, so to speak, that fuels innovation. This need extends beyond traditional code to the very heart of AI - machine learning (ML) models and their critical metadata.

Just like any other software component, these models require an infrastructure for storage, version control, security and efficient delivery – all within a single, unified platform.

This is where DevOps practices come to the forefront.

DevOps practices offer a powerful solution that merges the best of development and operations to address these market demands and unlock the true potential of AI at scale.

This vision for a holistic approach recently took a leap forward with the acquisition of Qwak AI, an AI and MLOps platform, by JFrog.

JFrog is on a mission to create a world of software delivered without friction from developer to device. Driven by a “Liquid Software” vision, the JFrog Software Supply Chain Platform is a single system of record that powers organizations to build, manage, and distribute software quickly and securely, to aid in making it available, traceable and tamper-proof.

Combing with an AI and MLOps platform like Qwak AI will offer several benefits.

First, it will free data scientists and developers from managing underlying infrastructure to allow them to focus on building and deploying AI applications faster. Second, JFrog, known for its software package repository Artifactory, will now offer enhanced capabilities for managing and securing ML models. This will streamline the process of moving models from development to production environments.

“Qwak's solution, powered by JFrog Artifactory as the model registry of choice and JFrog Xray for scanning and securing ML models, will enhance user efficiency and provide a unified platform experience for DevOps, DevSecOps, MLOps and MLSecOps,” said Shlomi Ben Haim, CEO and co-founder of JFrog.

The user experience will be simplified by integrating Qwak’s technology into the JFrog platform. This will provide a seamless workflow for bringing models to production while maintaining the security and trust that enterprises expect from JFrog.

JFrog’s existing model storage and security features will be combined with Qwak’s advanced training and serving functionalities. This integration aims to eliminate the need for separate tools and compliance processes. It offers a single solution with complete traceability throughout the model lifecycle.

“With the power of the JFrog Software Supply Chain Platform to deliver secure software components at scale, we’re creating a whole new experience that will pave the way for unified digital delivery teams to bring responsible, secured models into their applications much more simply and predictably,” said Alon Lev, CEO and co-founder of Qwak.

This acquisition builds upon a successful integration between JFrog and Qwak announced earlier in 2024, which in turn was based on JFrog’s “model as a package” approach.
