Zoom's New Tools: A Solution for Enterprise Security and Compliance

By

The escalating costs of non-compliance, security breaches and network instability are but a few critical challenges facing businesses today.

Don’t believe me? Let’s take a look.

In 2023, according to SteelEye's Financial Services Fine Tracker 2023, global non-compliance penalties exceeded $549 million, which only highlights the financial consequences of overlooking regulatory requirements. And security breaches compromised the data of over 353 million individuals, according to Statista, which shows that there is a need for proactive measures to protect sensitive information.

The challenges faced by enterprises are further compounded by the increasing demand for reliable network connectivity. Nearly a third of companies fought with unstable network or bandwidth constraints, according to everstream. This hinders productivity and impacts overall business operations.

The long-story-short of this? The confluence of these factors creates a complex and demanding landscape for organizations.

Well, Zoom can help.

Zoom recently announced several new add-on products and functionalities to further strengthen its advanced enterprise offerings portfolio for the Zoom platform. Zoom advanced enterprise offerings include a portfolio of Zoom products and features that help organizations meet their compliance, security, privacy, survivability and manageability requirements.

They are also organized into six key categories; communications compliance, data residency and privacy compliance, policy and deployment management, security and access control, analytics and insights, and network optimization and survivability.

So, let’s take a look at those offerings.

Zoom Compliance Manager Plus, powered by Theta Lake, offers advanced features like risk detection and data loss protection to help organizations meet regulatory obligations. Zoom Meeting Survivability ensures uninterrupted meeting services even during network disruptions, utilizing Zoom Node for local data center hosting.

Zoom Mesh optimizes bandwidth usage, saving up to 60% on internet costs. Zoom Customer Managed Key Hybrid provides customers with more control over encryption keys. This allows for local encryption of Zoom Team Chat messages.

“Zoom’s advanced enterprise offerings reflect our commitment to empowering businesses and providing them with offerings that enable them to be more efficient, secure, compliant and reliable,” said Smita Hashim, Chief Product Officer, Zoom. “Our advanced enterprise products and features are essential tools built for Zoom Workplace and Zoom Business Services that work behind the scenes as part of the Zoom network infrastructure to provide exceptional experiences to our customers. Our goal is to make communication and collaboration on Zoom foolproof, future-proof, and fail-proof.”

The offerings are included with Zoom Workplace Enterprise licenses and are designed to meet the complex needs of large organizations and those in regulated industries. By using these advanced features, businesses will improve business continuity, optimize bandwidth, enhance security, simplify manageability and support communications compliance.
