Gamification Wins over Traditional e-Learning for Corporate Training

By

With digital transformation well underway at most companies today and more people working from home or in a hybrid capacity, the move to offer training via a digital channel is also in high demand.  In fact, it’s a must.

But, these e-Learning sessions are not living up the expectations of workers or even the professionals responsible for implementing them.

According to a new report from Gamelearn, Contradictions of Corporate Training 2022, while 64 percent of organizations did increase investments in digital training over the last year, employees' expectations have not been met with the new methods.

The study, which asked more than 1,500 employees and HR and L&D professionals how they would rate their experiences using these online training tools, uncovered an average NPS of -29.

Areas they would rather see presented in the training include real-life simulations (66%) and gamification (40%).

With this type of game-based learning, the courses would combine quality content with an attractive story and engaging gamification elements, as well as simulations for immediate feedback so people can learn by doing.

Those who have used these types of serious game formats for training rate their experiences with a NPS of 45.

So what does this say about the future of work and how we want to learn in the new digital landscape? Serious games for training are a solid bet for digital corporate training programs. The time to invest and implement is now as company budgets for the new formats and methodologies are readily available.
