Hybrid Workplaces are The Future of Work

By

The world of work is changing quickly. With the availability of new technologies and a changing landscape of remote and hybrid workers, a entirely new set of trends and preferences have emerged shaping a new world of work. The Future of Work is leaning toward more flexibility and choice than ever available before. This is the best way to drive productivity while keeping worked satisfied.

Owl Labs, which provides AI-powered, 360-degree video conferencing solutions for hybrid organizations, recently released the findings of a survey that dug deeper into this topic. The study surveyed over 2,300 full-time employees about the current state of hybrid work and how they feel productivity and work/life balance are fairing.

“Throughout the past two years, many employers and workers have adopted and employed a hybrid work model; however, hybrid work has continued to evolve and new issues and concerns will surface as the world changes,” said Frank Weishaupt, CEO of Owl Labs.

The survey found that some job roles are ideal for remote work, including those who are creative thinkers, those that must spend the majority of their day focused, and those that work independently. Working from home offers the best environment for these workers to complete their tasks, versus an in-office setting.

There are still however several work tasks where employees say they need that in-office, face-to-face time with colleagues to get the job done. This includes needing to meet new people, having team meetings, and collaborating on projects.

Then there is another group of employees who are adding a third option for working into the mix – coworking spaces. This allows for a dedicated, shared space outside of the home and the office to get work done. For some employees, the attraction is a chance to work closer to home, but not in the house. For businesses, there is an opportunity to reduce real estate costs.

“When it comes to work environments, there’s no one-size-fits-all option that satisfies all employees, which is why hybrid work is the future, and this may look very different from company to company, said Weishaupt.

As hybrid workplace trends continue to develop and things like “quiet quitting” are happening, it’s up to companies to start thinking about what’s needed in their workplace to make the work-life balance better for employees. Remote and hybrid work options will reduce employee burnout and help with retention and morale.
