Pillr Simplifies Integrates Cyber Security Operations with New Platform

By

It is no secret that the practice of cybersecurity has become increasingly daunting, with well-funded bad actors launching fast-moving, often undetectable, and pervasive attacks.  When you add an alarming number of insider threats, it challenges our very perception of what true risk management looks like in any size organization.

Cyberattacks were rated the fifth leading risk in 2020—an “industry” in and of itself that continues to grow. IoT cyberattacks alone are expected to double by 2025.

Cybercrime is up 600%, according to studies promoted by the United Nations, largely as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Every industry and organization of all sizes has had to embrace new solutions and adapt quickly, which has driven the growth of Managed Security Service Providers (MSSPs) and the converging of MSSPs with Managed Service Providers (MSPs) growing in popularity as IT becomes too complex for many companies to handle internally.

Cybercrime will cost companies worldwide an estimated $10.5 trillion annually by 2025, up from $3 trillion in 2015, with an average breach costing over $1 million each as damages from fast-moving attacks worsen.

One company is seeking to change the way IT teams and service providers take on this increasing threat with its new platform, Pillr, introduced in September “with a commitment to upleveling what’s possible in security operations for organizations of all sizes.”

Formerly known as novaSOC, the company rebranded itself around the platform, unveiling Pillr as a “cybersecurity operations solution designed and engineered to address the evolving demands of IT teams and service providers.”

Pillr integrates with over 450 cybersecurity services and tools and is supported by an always-on collaborative cybersecurity operations model.  The company is seeking to push the boundaries of conventional cybersecurity messaging and visual standards.

“We want to deliver an end-to-end user experience that’s as dynamic as its users,” explained Pillr CMO Alexandra Matthiesen of the brand and product initiative.

A modern, intuitive user experience is part of the appeal of the new platform and its in-market presence.

“Today, much of what you’ll encounter in the cybersecurity industry looks, sounds, and reads the same,” Matthiesen said. “There’s a lot of outdated imagery and language—think armor and birds of prey—and it’s often centered in overbold messaging that fails to align to actual human interests and needs. We want to cut the FUD and hyperbole, and we’re making it happen with Pillr—a brand that reflects the people and personalities of our users; it’s aware and dynamic, just like them, and it’s designed to be extensible across the entirety of their product experience.”

Pillr CSO, Adam Gray, added, “We are committed to advancing with our users—and being a driver for advancement in their cybersecurity programs; Pillr functionality and the on-platform experience is continually evolving to incorporate their current security needs, with an eye on the future.”

The advancement of Pillr is also supported by the company’s central partners.

“Pillr has built a leading reputation for their impressive security technology with Pax8 partners,” said Nick Heddy, Chief Commerce Officer, Pax8, a cloud marketplace with expertise in cybersecurity. “We look forward to our continued partnership with Pillr to enable managed security providers to detect security vulnerabilities and suspicious activity so that we can keep SMBs protected from cyberattacks.”

The CEO of Pillr, Paul Anderson, added his enthusiasm for the community of Wichita, Kansas, where the company is headquartered. “As we expand what’s possible on Pillr, we’re simultaneously expanding our Pillr security operations team—an effort we hope will come to life in our growing Wichita headquarters. We are dedicated to shifting peoples’ perspectives on talent and where it’s found. Having been in this business for over 25 years, we see incredible untapped potential in Wichita.”

Pillr is a product of the Novacoast software development division—a team with over 20 years of experience engineering advanced cybersecurity solutions in a company with a 26-year history in the industry.
