Leostream and Scale Computing Simplify VDI for Distributed Enterprises

By

Leostream Corporation, creator of the Leostream Remote Desktop Access Platform, and Scale Computing, a provider of edge computing and virtualization, announced a strategic integration to simplify virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) for a wide range of organizations.

The collaboration will transform VDI deployment by making it more accessible and affordable for distributed enterprises, SMBs, and educational institutions that have traditionally found VDI too complex and costly to implement.

“Leostream and Scale Computing’s diverse expertise has created a complete virtual desktop solution that is simple to set up, easy to manage, and more affordable than you might expect,” said Jeff Ready, CEO and Co-Founder at Scale Computing. “The result is a right-sized approach without the enormous expense and support requirements of traditional VDI that is ideal for those running virtual desktops for the first time and as a VMware Horizon replacement.”

With the new solution, which uses Scale Computing’s SC//Platform, it consolidates software, servers, and storage into a single, easy-to-manage platform, providing a robust environment for running virtual machines (VMs). Together with Leostream’s Remote Desktop Access Platform, users get a streamlined architecture for hosting Windows and Linux desktops. Not only does it offer easier deployment, enhanced support, and competitive pricing but it also makes for a compelling alternative to traditional VDI solutions like VMware Horizon.

Key features of the joint offering include:

  • Dynamic Resource Allocation: The solution allows for efficient use of hardware resources, adjusting dynamically to handle peak loads better than static allocation methods.
  • Hybrid Cloud Support: It provides seamless management of both on-premises and cloud-based resources.
  • Optimized Performance: The platform ensures smooth application performance, enhancing the user experience.
  • High Availability: Built-in features minimize downtime, ensuring reliable access to critical applications.
  • Advanced Security: The solution includes multi-factor authentication, role-based access control, and end-to-end encryption, safeguarding virtual environments.
  • Granular Control and Customization: Administrators can fine-tune virtual environments to meet specific needs.
  • Real-Time Analytics: Deep insights into performance and usage are provided through real-time monitoring tools.
  • Streamlined Setup: The solution is designed for quick installation and configuration, typically taking less than four hours from start to finish.
  • Cost-Effective Licensing: A more economical licensing model helps organizations optimize their IT budgets.

“If you’re not a Fortune 500 company, it can be challenging to provide hybrid and remote workforces with the IT tools they need to ensure productivity and user experience—but not anymore,” said Randy Foster, Leostream VP, sales and marketing. “This integration is ideal for midsized businesses, education, healthcare, county and municipal governments, and frankly, any other organization that wants to be free of the unnecessary complexity and overhead of yesterday’s VDI.”
