Chenega Systems Using Solutions from Zoom to Modernize DoD

By

Supporting the modern workforce is becoming increasingly important today as more businesses adopt hybrid working models and as security demands increase. For government agencies like the Department of Defense (DoD), having future-ready technologies that don’t overcomplicate their process and that can be trusted to work as they should, is especially important.

Video conferencing provider Zoom provided commercial solutions to Chenega Systems to help it embrace flexible working and remain competitive when it comes to talent recruitment.

The wholly-owned subsidiary of the Alaska-native Chenega Corp., Chenega Systems is an 8(a) small business defense contractor for the U.S. government. It operates as a reseller, acting as an end user, serving an end user.

It uses a “Modernization as a Service” or MaaS offering that focuses on taking traditional and antiquated  programs within the U.S. government and the DoD and fully modernizing them into “software factories'' that are managed as a service.

Everything from the initial design to implementation and operation are all transformed so that they can get up and running faster and eliminate past issues that plagued its departments.

With Zoom for Government, they get the meeting, phone, room, and webinar solutions it needs all while meeting advanced security requirements.

Commenting on their partnership and the strides they’ve made to help modernize government departments, Mike Masten, vice president of modernization and innovation services for Chenega Systems said, “We saw Zoom as kind of the next generation of video conferencing, and we were looking for things out of the gate that worked very well and were easy.”

“As soon as Zoom for Government became available, we immediately switched over all of our programs. Now not only are we giving [customers] good video, but it has the security that is expected within this environment.”

And with Zoom for Government’s IL4 authorization for both video and VoIP, Masten says it has, “opened up an entire realm of work they can do remotely, which has been great for the workforce, especially given the pandemic and new remote work policies being adopted in the DoD.”

Client’s get access to Zoom video and VoIP as part of the offering and then a mix of Zoom solutions that meet their specific needs.

“We’re seeing a policy shift from the government…there’s an evolution of progress, the DNA of the organization changes because of the technology that they have,” said Masten.
